ABOUT KAREN RIX & TRI-XTRA

Coaching for the Whole Person

I’m Karen Rix—a professional coach, former NHS leader and endurance athlete.

My coaching approach has been shaped by more than 20 years of leadership experience, professional coaching and the realities of balancing ambition, wellbeing, family and everyday life.

I help people gain clarity, build confidence and move forward in a way that is both practical and sustainable.

Meet Karen Rix

Throughout my career in NHS leadership, I experienced the pressures of demanding roles, organisational change and the challenge of making space for yourself while supporting others.

Alongside my professional career, I qualified as a Professional Coach, British Triathlon Coach and Swimming Coach. I have also completed marathons, open-water swims and Ironman triathlons.

These experiences have taught me that meaningful progress is rarely about simply working or training harder. It begins with understanding where you are, what matters to you and what needs to change.

I bring professional insight, practical experience and genuine empathy to every coaching relationship.

The TRI-Xtra Approach

At the heart of TRI-Xtra is the belief that sustainable progress comes from understanding the bigger picture. That might mean looking at:

Different Goals. One Coaching Philosophy.

Karen’s approach brings together professional leadership, coaching expertise, endurance sport and real-life experience.

Whole-Person Perspective

Karen understands that work, relationships, wellbeing and personal ambitions are interconnected. Her coaching considers the complete person—not only the immediate goal.

Endurance Sport

Marathons, open-water swimming and Ironman triathlons have given Karen first-hand experience of commitment, resilience, setbacks and long-term goals.

Professional Coaching

Her professional coaching experience provides a supportive, structured and non-judgemental space for people to reflect, gain clarity and move forward.

NHS Leadership

More than 20 years in NHS leadership developed Karen’s understanding of responsibility, workplace pressure, organisational change and complex decision-making.

Progress That Works in Real Life

And supporting a young athlete should never be purely about performance at the expense of confidence, balance and enjoyment.

A training plan is only useful if it fits around your work, family and ability to recover.

A successful career does not mean much if you are constantly exhausted or disconnected from what matters to you.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach at TRI-Xtra.

Karen’s coaching is designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward in a way that is realistic, sustainable and meaningful to you.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning coaching. Sometimes the first step is simply having the time and space to talk, reflect and understand what you want to do next. Start with a conversation and discover what coaching could look like for you.
